How RAL 7011 reads
Iron grey is a mid dark, cool grey with a blue cast, bluer than RAL 7012 basalt grey and lighter than RAL 7016 anthracite grey. It has a crisp, metallic feel without any metallic pigment.
Where it turns up
It suits window frames, doors, cladding and railings. Compare it with RAL 7016 on a physical deck if you want a dark grey that is not quite so heavy.
Ordering RAL 7011 in paint or powder
Quote the number, not just the name: say "RAL Classic 7011" and add the gloss level, the product type (wall paint, metal paint, powder, aerosol) and the surface. The same number mixed by two makers, or in two gloss levels, can look slightly different, so keep a whole job in one batch and look at a sample in daylight first. The paint counter guide covers the questions to ask.
