How RAL 2012 reads
Cooked salmon is a fair description: a soft, pinkish orange, gentler and pinker than RAL 2008 bright red orange. Salmon orange is warm and muted rather than signal bright.
Where it turns up
It suits interior walls, furniture, garden pots and decorative metal. View samples in both daylight and lamplight, because pinkish oranges shift noticeably between the two.
Ordering RAL 2012 in paint or powder
Quote the number, not just the name: say "RAL Classic 2012" and add the gloss level, the product type (wall paint, metal paint, powder, aerosol) and the surface. The same number mixed by two makers, or in two gloss levels, can look slightly different, so keep a whole job in one batch and look at a sample in daylight first. The paint counter guide covers the questions to ask.
