How RAL 1005 reads
Set honey in a jar is the easiest picture: a darker yellow with a slightly brownish, mustard depth. Beside RAL 1004 golden yellow it looks duller and heavier, while RAL 1006 maize yellow is clearly lighter and brighter.
Where it turns up
This shade suits machinery, vintage vehicles, shop interiors and feature metalwork where a softer yellow is wanted. Satin or semi gloss helps it look rich; keep the primer light, as a mid grey base can make it look muddy.
Ordering RAL 1005 in paint or powder
Quote the number, not just the name: say "RAL Classic 1005" and add the gloss level, the product type (wall paint, metal paint, powder, aerosol) and the surface. The same number mixed by two makers, or in two gloss levels, can look slightly different, so keep a whole job in one batch and look at a sample in daylight first. The paint counter guide covers the questions to ask.
