How RAL 2001 reads

Brick, terracotta and old rust all come to mind with red orange, a deep, earthy orange with a lot of red in it. It is darker and duller than RAL 2004 pure orange and warmer than RAL 2002 vermilion.

Where it turns up

It suits machinery, gates, garden metal, accent doors and old farm equipment. A red oxide primer sits well under it; check the sample in daylight, because it can look browner indoors.

Ordering RAL 2001 in paint or powder

Quote the number, not just the name: say "RAL Classic 2001" and add the gloss level, the product type (wall paint, metal paint, powder, aerosol) and the surface. The same number mixed by two makers, or in two gloss levels, can look slightly different, so keep a whole job in one batch and look at a sample in daylight first. The paint counter guide covers the questions to ask.
