How RAL 3003 reads
Ruby red has a jewel like depth, darker and cooler than RAL 3002 carmine red. It sits between carmine and the darker RAL 3004 purple red, rich and dense but never close to black.
Where it turns up
It works well on front doors, furniture, railings and classic vehicles. Deep reds show fading and scratches, so choose a good exterior topcoat in satin or gloss rather than matt.
Ordering RAL 3003 in paint or powder
Quote the number, not just the name: say "RAL Classic 3003" and add the gloss level, the product type (wall paint, metal paint, powder, aerosol) and the surface. The same number mixed by two makers, or in two gloss levels, can look slightly different, so keep a whole job in one batch and look at a sample in daylight first. The paint counter guide covers the questions to ask.
