How RAL 3031 reads
Orient red is a mid red with a slightly cool, pinkish cast. It is softer than RAL 3020 traffic red and close to RAL 3016 coral red in depth, though less orange.
Where it turns up
It suits doors, machinery, garden furniture and signs. Compare it with neighbouring reds on a fan deck before ordering, since the differences are small.
Ordering RAL 3031 in paint or powder
Quote the number, not just the name: say "RAL Classic 3031" and add the gloss level, the product type (wall paint, metal paint, powder, aerosol) and the surface. The same number mixed by two makers, or in two gloss levels, can look slightly different, so keep a whole job in one batch and look at a sample in daylight first. The paint counter guide covers the questions to ask.
