How RAL 5005 reads
Signal blue is a strong, clean mid blue, a shade brighter than RAL 5010 gentian blue and less purple than RAL 5002 ultramarine blue. It looks clear and purposeful.
Where it turns up
It is used for signage, machinery, doors and bikes. Strong blues look more saturated in gloss than in matt, so test the sheen on a sample panel first.
Ordering RAL 5005 in paint or powder
Quote the number, not just the name: say "RAL Classic 5005" and add the gloss level, the product type (wall paint, metal paint, powder, aerosol) and the surface. The same number mixed by two makers, or in two gloss levels, can look slightly different, so keep a whole job in one batch and look at a sample in daylight first. The paint counter guide covers the questions to ask.
