How RAL 5009 reads
Azure blue is a muted mid blue with a slight green lean, deeper than RAL 5007 brilliant blue and greener than RAL 5005 signal blue. It reads a little like the sea on a dull day.
Where it turns up
It suits doors, sheds, machinery and garden furniture. Check samples in daylight, because it can look grey under indoor lighting, and use a mid grey primer so the topcoat covers in two coats.
Ordering RAL 5009 in paint or powder
Quote the number, not just the name: say "RAL Classic 5009" and add the gloss level, the product type (wall paint, metal paint, powder, aerosol) and the surface. The same number mixed by two makers, or in two gloss levels, can look slightly different, so keep a whole job in one batch and look at a sample in daylight first. The paint counter guide covers the questions to ask.
