How RAL 8003 reads

Warm and earthy, clay brown is a mid brown with an orange tint, darker than RAL 8001 ochre brown and less red than RAL 8004 copper brown. It looks like fired clay.

Where it turns up

It suits doors, cladding, garden furniture and render details. A satin finish keeps it looking natural on timber and metal alike, and a red oxide primer sits well under it on steel.

Ordering RAL 8003 in paint or powder

Quote the number, not just the name: say "RAL Classic 8003" and add the gloss level, the product type (wall paint, metal paint, powder, aerosol) and the surface. The same number mixed by two makers, or in two gloss levels, can look slightly different, so keep a whole job in one batch and look at a sample in daylight first. The paint counter guide covers the questions to ask.
