How RAL 3009 reads
Muted and brownish, oxide red looks like traditional red oxide primer or old barn paint. It is browner than RAL 3011 brown red and far duller than RAL 3000 flame red.
Where it turns up
It suits barns, sheds, fences, steelwork and agricultural buildings. Matt and satin finishes look most natural, and it hides rust staining better than brighter reds do.
Ordering RAL 3009 in paint or powder
Quote the number, not just the name: say "RAL Classic 3009" and add the gloss level, the product type (wall paint, metal paint, powder, aerosol) and the surface. The same number mixed by two makers, or in two gloss levels, can look slightly different, so keep a whole job in one batch and look at a sample in daylight first. The paint counter guide covers the questions to ask.
