How RAL 4004 reads
Claret violet is a dark, rich wine purple, deeper than RAL 4002 red violet and close to RAL 3004 purple red, but with a cooler lean. It looks dense and formal.
Where it turns up
It suits front doors, furniture, shopfronts and interior accents. Dark purples show dust and scratches, so satin is often more forgiving than gloss.
Ordering RAL 4004 in paint or powder
Quote the number, not just the name: say "RAL Classic 4004" and add the gloss level, the product type (wall paint, metal paint, powder, aerosol) and the surface. The same number mixed by two makers, or in two gloss levels, can look slightly different, so keep a whole job in one batch and look at a sample in daylight first. The paint counter guide covers the questions to ask.
