How RAL 1001 reads

Warmer than its neighbour RAL 1000 green beige, this is the familiar mid beige with a gentle pinkish yellow warmth. It is light without being pale and stays muted, nowhere near the strength of RAL 1002 sand yellow.

Where it turns up

Beige of this kind turns up on interior joinery, shopfittings, radiators and older appliance housings. A satin finish keeps it from looking plasticky, and a white or light grey primer under it means fewer topcoats on bare metal.

Ordering RAL 1001 in paint or powder

Quote the number, not just the name: say "RAL Classic 1001" and add the gloss level, the product type (wall paint, metal paint, powder, aerosol) and the surface. The same number mixed by two makers, or in two gloss levels, can look slightly different, so keep a whole job in one batch and look at a sample in daylight first. The paint counter guide covers the questions to ask.
